Journalism Study Examines Mainstream Media and Social Media

A new study by the Pew Research Center’s Project for Excellence in Journalism examines what gets published in mainstream media vs social media.

There’s lots of good info here, but I particularly liked the way the Center studied the kinds of news stories that social media users linked to from the major mainstream news websites.

For example, The New York Times was more often linked to for business and economics news (28% of its social media links) than for any other topic.
